TACTICAL AIR CONTROL PARTY

LIGHTNING CHALLENGE

November 2022

Organized by the 353 SWTS
LOCATION: San Antonio
HOST: Marcus Mader

ABOUT LIGHTNING CHALLENGE

The Lighting Challenge is a TACP career field exclusive event. For years it was the annual 1C4/TACP Skills competition hosted by the TACP Schoolhouse out of Hurlburt Field, Florida.

Due to overwhelming commitments to contingency operations in the early 2000’s, the challenge was on hiatus.

In 2019, 5 ASOS/1 ASOG resurrected the event. The participation and excitement surrounding last year’s event emphasized the interest among the community for future challenges.

The career field has evolved from 1C4/TACP into 1Z3/TACP/AFSPECWAR, and changes will be applied to the Lightning Challenge to reflect the evolution.
